Customize your Project Plan
by tailoring Smartsheet
b) Means: August 30, minus August 21, ... results in 8.625... days that are still left. And that
means, we have still around 8 days left that we could use, if a task in the project schedule
would take longer than expected.
We can ignore the ".625...", because Smartsheet calculates with an 8-hour-workday and this is
why this decimal point comes up. We can ignore this decimal point, since we are only inter-
ested in whether the determined number is greater than zero (equals positive) or less than
zero (equals then negative).
As long as the number is positive, our schedule is fine, but if the number is negative, we can
already see here that we have to do something to prevent that the due date will be missed
(see also above, where options for doing this, have already been listed, e.g., run tasks parallel,
shorten durations, overlap tasks, ...).
